Keep'n It Together

"Hush little baby, drink your water and peep." That's what Alex calls pee, she calls it peep. We were at Fred Meyer returning outdoor lights that didn't quite work for our backyard redo and took a moment to peruse the toy department. I couldn't help picking up a set of diapers for Alex's baby doll. Alex has been itch'n to fill her baby with water just so she could watch her wet herself.

I'm feeling particularly sentimental lately, watching my children play and snapping photos of every move they make, all the while thinking of Alex's upcoming surgery on Friday. Yes, another surgery. Please don't worry, Alex is just fine and is undergoing cosmetic surgery to correct the shape of her ears {a necessary procedure to help her glasses fit properly}. Of course whenever a child goes under the knife it is worrisome. Lately I find myself walking into rooms and then forgetting why I went there in the first place. I open the pantry instead of the fridge. I wake in the middle of the night thinking about all kinds of crazy stuff that I forgot to do. I'm basically going nuts with anxiety.

From what I understand, the surgery will be quite lengthy and the recovery, painful. Alex will have to wear bandages for a week all the while taking pain medications and antibiotics. I do hope the weather decides to hover around the 65 to 70'ish mark which should be a comfortable temperature while recovering.

In the meantime, I'll do my best to think good thoughts and embrace all the good times. Watching my children play happily side-by-side is a treat. Sammy is such an outstanding big sister and is at times, wise beyond her years. I suppose when I think back to when my children were born, I too couldn't wait until they wet themselves just so I could change them for the very first time. Over time, the thrill of changing diapers wore off as I'm sure Alex's need to watch her baby peep will too. HA!! See, I'm still laughing.

If there is time, I'll try to provide an update on Alex's recovery. More to come next week. In the meantime, you can read past posts about Alex {here}, {here} and {here}.

  4. Thanks you guys. I'm positive Alex will be alright. The recovery will be rocky but she's a kid, they bounce back pretty quickly. I just hope the recovery time is short. Big hugs to you all!!!
