Half-A#% Oreo Cookies and Bingo Lotto

I have been a lazy baker this month. My husband has reminded me, multiple times, on just how lazy I've been this holiday season. Typically around this time you'd find me in the kitchen baking up a storm, but this year, I just didn't have it in me. So, when I found this recipe for homemade Oreo Cookies, I decided to prove to my husband that I still had it in me. The cookie part was very simple. I followed the instructions to the letter and the dough came out exactly the way it was supposed to... consistency, color, the whole sh'bang. As for the filling, I explained to my husband that instead of making the Oreo Cookie filling, that I would instead melt a marshmallow and then squish it between two cookies... that should taste good right? He looked at me and said quite plainly, "So you're gonna half-arse it then?" Only he didn't say, arse, he said, a#%.

After a day or so, I marched back in to the kitchen and went to work on making the filling. But I had trouble. Big trouble. The recipe seemed simple enough, but for some reason, my filling came out gummy and yellow -- not at all white and fluffy as I had seen in the picture. I don't know where I went wrong. I dumped the whole concoction in the disposal and never looked back. Instead, I squished a warm, microwaved marshmallow in between two cookies and called it a day. My girls said that my version of the "Oreo" tasted better than store bought. Now ain't that a kick in the head? Half-A#% Oreo Cookies taste better than store bought. And as for my husband, FACE!!!

Then we played Bingo Lotto and all was well again!!

If you're at all interested in getting this Bingo Lotto game, I gotta tell you that it is so much fun. The balls spin around and then empty out on to a narrow channel. I called firsts, when we started the game so I got to be Master Caller... I spun the wheel around and then out came a tiny ball with tiny numbers written on it. I had to pause the game until I found my bifocals to read the numbers. Everyone, in unison, exclaimed, "Oh geezes, Maya/Mom!" I got my spectacles and we were off!! Totally fun for the entire family.

Happy New Year's, friends!!
