Hello 2010. I've been moving in slow motion these past few days -- too burned out from all the holiday celebrating. I've baked, crafted and partied and now I'm taking it easy.
Like most of you, I've replayed 2009 in my mind over and over again trying to find the things that I want to continue in the new year and the things that I'd like to do without and during this process I discovered that:
I had far too many clothes in my closet that hadn't seen the light of day in ages. So I got rid of them.
I also learned that yelling is contagious. I yell all the time and nothing ever comes of it but more yelling. It's no fun watching my girls yell at each other whenever they're upset. I'm hoping the brand new, quieter me, will rub off on them. Because really, who likes someone who yells all the time right?
Beauty is all around me, I just have to slow down and pay attention to it. I want to bring flowers in more often. So along with this resolution, I also plan to plant another flower garden this spring. I also want to light candles even when we're not having company.
Continue to practice yoga on a daily basis. Some of you already know how passionate I am about practicing but sometimes when it's bitter cold outside I'm unmotivated to walk across the room let alone bust out in plank pose.
Drink more wine and eat more chocolate. There are so many simple pleasures in life that can be embraced at home. What better resolution can there be? Honestly. I probably drink a glass of wine a month. I think a few more glasses a month will do me some good.
I've already started on the last one. Eat more chocolate.
These sweet treats were found all by their lonesome on my desk in my office. While I wanted to rip into them immediately I didn't think 8:30 a.m. would be a good time to indulge. Instead I brought them home completely sealed. Isn't it lovely?
The company, b. sweets is located in Pennsylvania and is operated by four cousins who come from a long lineage of candy makers. I plan to chomp on a few pieces later this afternoon.
If you haven't started on your resolutions, no worries, you've got all year to incorporate them into your lives. At least, that's what I keep telling myself.
You might be the only person on earth whose resolution involves more wine and more chocolate!
ReplyDeleteHey, I notice you got a nice link from Leave & Branch, Trunk & Roots http://reggiovancouver.com/.
I want you to try that kale chips recipe they have on their front page right now!
Tom, I will definitely try this recipe. Thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteI made the kale chips myself the other night, Maya. Jennifer and I loved them, but Josephine thought they were weird. I wound up some atop Brussels sprouts. Outstanding!
