For Valentine's Day, Alex and I baked homemade Graham Crackers. See recipe {here}. My friend Reshma told me that she made them and that they came out great. Mine, not so much. I'm pretty sure that I over-baked them even though the recipe said to bake for 25 minutes.
My husband and I both paused when we tried to bite down on them. We were surprised by how rock solid they were. The only thing I could think of was, "my bad."
After dunking them a few times in hot tea, they tasted alright. I like to think of them as Biscotti'esq Graham Crackers.
I bought gourmet marshmallows and a chocolate bar to make S'mores but given the cement like quality of our crackers I figured they'd only get tougher with more heat. So instead, I'm going to try it again. I think my next batch will be must better.
I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Valentine's Day with someone sweet in your life.
Biscotti graham crackers actually sound very good. You might be onto something.
ReplyDeleteI love that picture of Alex concentrating so hard!
Sorry they did not work out. I should have mentioned that I did not bake them as long as the recipe said. I also used whole wheat pastry flour to make them "healthier". Let me know how they turn out when you make them again.
